Entry Requirements
FETAC/QQI Level 5 Award in Security Studies (or Equivalent). Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet this entry requirement.

Course Description
This course prepares students for employment at supervisory level in the highly specialised security industry. It is of particular relevance to students who are interested in a career at management level in the security industry. As part of the course, students complete industrial experience placements in a supervisory capacity with recognised security companies. In order to complete this element of the course, students should hold a security licence. This course is of particular relevance to students who are interested in a career with An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces or the Prison Service.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of this course have found employment in the private security industry or progressed to training with An Garda Síochána. This course has been designed to meet the needs of the security industry in line with the terms of the Private Security Services Act 2004. Potential students are advised to hold or have applied for the security licence required under the Private Security Services Act 2004. Students may also have the opportunity to compete a work placement in the UK where they can commence the process of applying for a UK licence.
