Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or FETAC/QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.
Course Description
This course is designed to prepare students for employment in the tourism and travel industries. Core modules prepare students for work in the ever expanding tourism sector. Students are also offered the opportunity to choose between Airport Passenger Services, including International Academy of Travel (IAOT) accreditation, Marketing Practice or Accommodation Techniques. The Start Your Own Business module will enable students to develop the skills required to exploit business opportunities in the area. Students may avail of the opportunity to complete their work placement in an Irish airport.

Employment opportunities are varied. Graduates can expect to find employment both at home and abroad with travel agencies, tour operators and visitor attractions as reservation sales agents, travel consultants and receptionists. Students with IAOT accreditation can find employment with airports and airlines as cabin crew and ground staff. This course is also ideal for anyone, who wishes to develop their own tourism or accommodation business.

At Cavan Institute: Upon successful completion of this programme, you may progress to a Level 6 FETAC/QQI Certificate in Tourism and Travel with Business available at Cavan Institute.
